  It's a good thing that this isn't closer to my house because I would probably be getting it once a week. Seriously. I first tried this pizza at a pizza tasting event in Hoboken. At that event, I had half a slice. From there, I knew I had to have it again and have it directly at the source. So I made my way to NYC.
  
  The slices are more expensive as compared to traditional NY pizza, but this isn't your traditional NYC pizza. An artichoke slice will run you $6. Keep in mind, if you buy an artichoke at the supermarket, one artichoke will probably run you $3. So it's not a bad deal here. The non-square slices are VERY big. One slice of their well-known "artichoke" pizza is easily enough to fill you up. We made the mistake of getting one of those plus a square slice, and left so full.
  
  The artichoke slice is easily one of the best slices I've ever had. It's also one of the messiest. Be prepared with lots of napkins cause you're gonna need them.
  
  Downside is it's CASH ONLY. We had no cash on us. But there is an ATM inside for a $2 fee.
  
  You need to eat the artichoke slice at least once in your life. It should be on any pizza aficionado's list.

  I didn't love it, but I surely didn't hate it. Artichoke is able to deliver something different in a market where it is difficult/dangerous to differentiate. The staff themselves are a little rude during the rush hour but it's understandable with the shear amount of people in there.
  
  I had the artichoke slice, for 6 bucks it's like a meal! The slice is huge and with all the cheese it was very filling. I'd recommend cutting it in half after a while the taste of the cheese gets to you for sure.

  Picked up a slice of the signature artichoke and my oh my. I've not been big on artichokes in the past but this pizza is definitely worth the hype! A huge slice of creamy cheesy Alfredo sauce with artichokes had me licking my fingers. Pizza was fresh out of the oven and the cheese was literally liquid and really rich.
  
  There's no real seating as such but there's space to stand and finish off your pizza. 100% would go back to try their other pies as they looked really good too.

  I would give artichoke 3.5 stars. The artichoke slice is very creamy and heavy. One slice is enough for me. It cost $6 and it's very rich and has a nice crust.  Very unique but I much prefer Brooklyn styled pizza. The crab slice is also $6 and is full of crabmeat. It's worth the $6. Service is quick and good. The other slices are $5 including the grandma slice. It's very dark inside and has a Christmas story lamp.

  I've had Artichoke Basille's bookmarked for years. While I'm no stranger to pizza, I've never actually tried an artichoke slice before. After skimming the reviews and pics, I made a decision the next time I was near Union Square to check it out. Lo and behold, that day finally came so I decided to pop in for a slice.
  
  Artichoke isn't large - they're set up to to be mostly a takeout spot but have a counter and stools lining the perimeter if you want to sit and eat. It's definitely spacious though, it can accommodate a small crowd plus people eating quite comfortably. Aesthetics are casual pizza shop - nothing too crazy. The menu mostly contains specialty slices for $6 each, as well as pies for $32. You might be put off by the price per slice, but they're huge - long enough that you need two paper plates to accommodate and definitely shareable if need be.
  
  While all their offerings sounded delicious, this was my first time so I wanted to try the artichoke. I wasn't disappointed - the slice was topped with plenty of artichoke hearts and lots of creamy sauce. The crust was a little too thick for my liking, but I think it was needed due to the heavy toppings so it didn't bother me.  
  
  Service was fast and friendly - note however that this business is cash only. Overall, I had a great first experience at Artichoke's - if all their slices are like their signature one I can understand why this place is so popular. If I ever get a hankering for some artichoke pie you know where I'll be ;-).
